End of Session
So you’ve finished your Adventurers League session. This may finish an AL adventure, or it may just be part of an adventure. What happens now?
Reset Your Character
Bring Yourself Back to Life
If your character died during the adventure, AL rules permit you to “resurrect” yourself.
Remove Any Curses
If you were cursed, the curse is now gone.
Long Rest
If your session completed an adventure, then your character can take a Long Rest.
If your Magic Items recharge (either completely or partially) during a Long Rest (or “at the next morning”), then they fully recharge now.
Get Back Your Equipment
You can loan equipment (mundane items, magical items, consumables, etc.) to other characters, but at the end of your session, they all come back to you. You cannot give anything permanently to another character.
Log Your Adventure
While the adventure is fresh in your mind, now is the time to log your adventure in your character’s AL log. Please see 📝Logging Your Adventures for more information.
Collect Your Rewards
Your DM should tell you what your rewards are.
Downtime
Whenever you finish a session, you always get 10 Downtime Days. Add this to your character’s log.
Please see 📆Downtime Days for more information.
Gold
Your adventuring party may have received some gold. The gold goes to your party and is always split evenly. Your DM will tell you how much you receive. Add this to your character’s log.
Magic Items
The adventure you played may reward you with one or more Magic Items. Most of the time, all characters receive a “copy” of the same Magic Items. Some may be “permanent” Magic Items, while others may be “consumables”. Your DM will tell you which Magic Items you receive. Add these to your character’s log.
If you received a Legendary Magic Item, you can keep it (unless it’s one of the ⛔Unavailable Items), but you cannot use it until Tier 4 (level 17).
Level-Up Your Character
If your character just completed an adventure, you can level-up your character by one level. If your DM tells you to level up, you may choose to decline that level (but you cannot level-down). If you level-up your character, include this fact in your character’s log.
When you level-up your character, use the “fixed value” for HP for your class. Don’t roll for the HP increase.
Sometimes, if you’re playing a series with the same DM/party, the DM may request that you don’t level-up your character in order to keep the party at the same level and/or in the correct tier for the adventures you’re playing.
After Your Session
Once your session is complete, you have some things you can do before your next session.
Downtime Activities
The ALPG describes which Downtime Activities you can participate in. This can be trading magic items, catching-up (ie. using your Downtime Days to level-up your character), crafting non-magical equipement.
More information can be found here 🏒Downtime Activities
Bastion Turns
If your character is level 5 or higher, they can create a Bastion. Please see 🏰Bastions in AL for more information about Bastions in AL.
