In Adventurers League, Downtime Days act as a currency, like gold. For each AL session your character completes, they are given 10 Downtime Days. They can bank their Downtime Days indefinitely.

Downtime Days are specific to each of your characters and cannot be given or traded between characters.

Between adventures and/or sessions, your character can participate in some Downtime Activities. For each Downtime Activity they participate in, they must spend some of their Downtime Days.

Participation in a Downtime Activity should be added to your AL log.

Below are some Downtime Activities that are possible for your characters.

Downtime Activities From the ALPG

Catching Up

You can spend 10 Downtime Days to add 1 level to your character.

You can do this multiple times. For example, you can spend 30 Downtime Days to add 3 levels to your character at one time.

Copying Spells

If you’re a wizard, you can copy spells into your Wizard’s spellbook. If you find a spellbook in an adventure, you can copy spells from that spellbook into your spellbook. Or, if you share a table with another wizard, you can copy spells from their spellbook.

Cantrips cannot be copied.

The costs for copying each spell are outlined in the sidebar “Expanding and Replacing a Spellbook” in the 2024 Players Handbook. This table outlines those costs.
