DC Guidelines for Enspelled Items

TL;DR

Enspelled Items are not allowed to be rewarded from AL DC adventures.

Ruling

In #al-admin-rulings, the question was asked:

Are enspelled items allowed now? I ask because the alag says they’re forbidden, but the alpg says they’re allowed if the spell is specified

Ma’at (AL Admin) responded:

To my knowledge there are no specified enspelled items (official D&D or AL one-shots). But if there are, then those are available.

Currently DC designers don’t have guidance on doing this, so they may not add specified items to their adventures. The DC Design Guide is being updated to provide guidance on how to and which items will be allowed to have specified details. And that will be released as soon as it’s finalized.

Conclusion

In short, DCs cannot award Enspelled Items.

This conversation happened September 2025. At that time, the latest DC Guidelines document was version 1.9c.

As of this writing, 2026-07-14, version 1.9c is still the latest version of the DC Guidelines, so nothing has changed.
