Definition

From the ALPG 2026.2, page 3:

Magic ammunition

and

non-attunement magic item unable to recharge or regain its magic, or must be consumed if used

Logic

If you’re questioning an item, you can use this logic to determine if the item is consumable or permanent.

  1. Is the item magical ammunition of any kind? Yes ⇒ Consumable
  2. Does the item require attunement? Yes ⇒ Permanent
  3. Does the item have charges? Yes ⇒
    1. Are the charges rechargeable? Yes ⇒ Permanent
    2. Can the item be used in any way that doesn’t require using a charge? Yes ⇒ Permanent
    3. Is the item consumed when you use the last charge? Yes ⇒ Consumable
  4. Is the item consumed when you use the item? No ⇒ Permanent

Otherwise, it’s a consumable.
